The effects of endocrine disruptors on the body
The entire functioning of our body is governed by a dynamic hormonal balance. Indeed, it is the variation in the proportions between the different hormones present in our body that regulates our metabolism.
Endocrine disruptors, synthetic or natural, are so-called “hormone-like” molecules that mimic the action of hormones to deceive our body. Our metabolism is then affected by the change in hormonal balance. Depending on each person's vulnerability and the extent of exposure to the various products that may contain these substances (food, cosmetics…), the harmful effects on our health are many. They can be felt in the short and long term, and could even be passed on from one generation to the next. Studies on how these molecules work are still ongoing, but the results of laboratory tests call for the greatest caution.

The best-known endocrine disruptors
- Phthalates: solvents and formula stabilizers that are stored in fat cells and can cause allergies
- Triclosan: a preservative in personal hygiene products that is said to irritate the skin and eyes.
- Parabens: preservatives in cosmetic products.
- Chemical UV filters: anti-UV protection found in formulas and perfume juices.
Natural formulas without endocrine disruptors
HUYGENS has always excluded the use of molecules suspected of belonging to the endocrine disruptor family from the composition of its products. They are replaced by ingredients that are controlled and authorized in ORGANIC cosmetics.
When no alternative is possible, Huygens chooses naturalness for its formulas. Huygens perfume juices are the best examples. Indeed, they are neither bleached nor treated against UV. Their color may therefore change over time, without ever affecting the quality of the fragrances. In addition, the perfumes are formulated from organic-origin alcohol and without phthalates.
